Freshmen Girls Shine on Cross Country Team
Twins Miriam and Marlenne Mendez and fellow freshman Tiara Cerda have one thing in common — they all love to run. These ladies have  competed in Cross Country all three years at Kimmons.
“Willow Mendez inspired me to run for cross country,” Marlenne said. “She saw how good of a runner I am and encouraged me to try out.”
Not only do these athletes have special memories of times in class and with friends, but they also remember moments with the Cross Country team.
“Running with my friends and competing against others is definitely something that I will remember,” Tiara said. “The best part about my experience on the team is Coach Skelton because he is a fun person and the best person ever.”
As for aspirations of becoming an Olympic athlete, Miriam believes that she has what it takes.
“I would love to compete in the Olympics even though there are some people who you cannot beat as well as some you can,” Marlenne said. “Running is a profession to me that has turned into a loved passion.”
