Downside of Depression


We all have heard about people who are suffering from depression, but what is it really? Depression is a disorder that affects how you feel, think, sleep, eat, and work. It is when you are sad for a very long period of time. According to the National Institute of Health, depression is the most common mental disorder in the U.S. In the world over 350 million people of all ages are affected by depression.

Many people’s eating habits suffer when dealing with depression. Some people use food as a source of comfort and end up gaining weight. Other people are just too sad to eat and end up losing weight. Also depression will cause people to oversleep or get very little sleep. People get tired fast and may overthink stuff as well. When dealing through a day, they communicate less and get way too tired to really do anything.

We all should be concerned about people who experience depression. People who experience this disorder need support and love because many feel very lonely or are even suicidal. People don’t always know what has triggered the disorder, so we all should try to step in and be there for someone who is upset because they may need someone. Let’s change the world because by one small act of kindness may change everything.
