A committee voted to change Southside High School’s mascot from the Rebels to the Mavericks. People had thought the Rebel mascot was offensive and racist. Southside should not have had to change its mascot over other people’s personal opinions. If Southside were so racist, then why didn’t people try to change the mascot a long time ago?
