In her column “Wear Sunscreen,” Mary Schmich says: “Don’t waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you’re ahead. Sometimes you’re behind. The race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.” This is good advice because some people don’t realize that jealousy is useless. We shouldn’t try to be someone we are not. Just do you. Be confident in who you are, how you are, and how you look because you choose your own character. Don’t follow others. Instead, be a leader of your own self.

For example, in 1995, the legendary Latin-American singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez was shot to death by her jealous manager Yolanda Saldiver. Jealousy did nothing for Yolanda but land her in prison. Jealousy will do nothing good for you either.

Just be happy with the good, important, amazing YOU.
