Raider Reps Volunteer at River Valley Dragon Boat Festival
At the Fort Smith Park on a warm September day, teams of 21 people each piled into their brightly-colored dragon boats to race in honor of a famous Chinese poet named Qu Yuan. Each team had sponsors, paid an entry fee, and collected donations. All funds benefitted the Hamilton House, a family safety center that provided services for abused children.
Raider Reps volunteered at the 2nd Annual River Valley Dragon Boat Festival, which raised over $33,000.
“We gave out water to the racers and volunteers,” Jaqueline Figueroa, 9th, said. “Also, we helped the little kids enjoy themselves by coloring and making cut outs.”
Raider reps volunteered wherever they were needed.
“I was in the front checking volunteers in and telling them where to go,” Edwin de la Cruz, 9th , said.
Sponsor, Ms. Ehnle, saw a benefit in Raider Reps helping out with the Festival.
“Raider Reps participate in community projects and support the community while representing Kimmons in a positive way,” Ms. Enhle said.
