Raider Reps Volunteer at River Valley Dragon Boat Festival

At the Fort Smith Park on a warm September day, teams of 21 people each piled into their brightly-colored dragon boats to race in honor of a famous Chinese poet named Qu Yuan. Each team had sponsors, paid an entry fee, and collected donations. All funds benefitted the Hamilton House, a family safety center that provided services for abused children.

Raider Reps volunteered at the 2nd Annual River Valley Dragon Boat Festival, which raised over $33,000.

β€œWe gave out water to the racers and volunteers,” Jaqueline Figueroa, 9th, said. β€œAlso, we helped the little kids enjoy themselves by coloring and making cut outs.”

Raider reps volunteered wherever they were needed.

β€œI was in the front checking volunteers in and telling them where to go,” Edwin de la Cruz, 9th , said.

Sponsor, Ms. Ehnle, saw a benefit in Raider Reps helping out with the Festival.

β€œRaider Reps participate in community projects and support the community while representing Kimmons in a positive way,” Ms. Enhle said.
