After thirty-four years in pastoral and evangelical ministry and fourteen years in education, Mr. Schlinker has brought his wisdom and expertise to Kimmons. The help and support he receives from the staff and administration is what he likes best being here.
“It gives me confidence and a sense of belonging here,” Mr. Schlinker said.
Mr. Schlinker earned a Master of Art in Teaching from the University of Central Arkansas and came here from Darby Middle School where he focused in Math. Working with small groups and being a nurturer inspired Mr. Schlinker to become an intervention specialist.
“It seemed to be a strength for me,” Mr. Schlinker said.
A favorite memory is when a student gave him a drawing of a football with the saying “Thank you for supporting my dream.”
“The gift moved me because it went beyond content and showed that I was perhaps making an encouraging impact on this particular student,” Mr. Schlinker said.
Serving in both education and ministry has its challenges.
“It can be difficult keeping up with the many demands of the teaching profession while balancing it with family time and ministry,” Mr. Schlinker said. “I stay so busy with teaching requirements that I spend extra time away from family and ministry.”
Outside of school, Mr. Schlinker enjoys watching basketball and football with his wife Ruth Ann and taking trips and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
“I also enjoy hunting and fishing with my son because that is something I grew up doing with my Dad,” Mr. Schlinker said. “This activity is a very exciting, great joy because it is a means of enjoying God’s beautiful creation.”
