Dr. Willamson did not start out with administration, classroom teacher, or coach in mind. He planned on a career in criminal justice and even earned his bachelor’s degree in that field from the University of Arkansas in 1999.

“The original plan was law school, so I earned a Masters in Public Administration [MPA] since it had a joint program with the Juris Doctorate department,” Dr. Williamson said. “My emphasis was Sports Management, and that is how I ended up working in college athletics from 2002 until 2009 [Clemson University and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville].”

Before earning his doctorate in education (school leadership) from Arkansas Tech in 2019 and Education Specialist (superintendent) from Arkansas State University in 2017, Dr. Williamson could be found in the classroom or the gym. Starting out in 2009 at Ramsey Junior High, he taught 8th grade Social Studies and was an assistant coach for Basketball, Football and Track. Next, he came to Kimmons in 2011 to teach 9th grade Civics and Economics and become the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach. He then returned to his home town of Nashville, Arkansas, where he served as Assistant Principal at Nashville Junior High School for four years. Afterwards, he served as Principal at Star City High School of Innovation in Southeast Arkansas.

Returning to Kimmons feels like home.

“I loved every second of working here before, and I look forward to working with the staff and scholars to enjoy a second successful experience,” Dr. Williamson said.

It was Dr. Williamson’s love of teaching and coaching that inspired him to transition from teacher/coach to administrator.

“It provided an opportunity to invest in young people and build strong relationships,” Dr. Williamson said. “Administration increased the number of students I could advocate for and invest in.”

As an assistant principal, Dr. Williamson has some goals he wants to accomplish.

“I want to work with everyone to provide the best junior high experience possible for our young scholars,” Dr. Williamson said.

Outside of school, Dr. Williamson enjoys spending time with his wife Shele and sons Kasius and Kyas.
“We watch movies, play games, and attend sporting events and plays — all based on family bonding,” Dr. Williamson said.
