Ms. Dunn Brings Enthusiasm to KJH

Ms. Katie Dunn has chosen to teach science in the same building that her mom Connie Dunn retired after 38 years in education.

“It’s neat to get to experience some of the things my mom used to talk about,” Ms. Dunn said.

Ms. Dunn earned a bachelor’s degree in history from UAFS and a masters in education in teaching, learning, and leadership from Arkansas Tech University. Her favorite thing about Kimmons is the people.

“Everyone has been so welcoming, and I am very grateful to be here,” Ms. Dunn said. “I love being a Raider!”

Her 7th grade science teacher inspired Ms. Dunn to love science.

“He made everything so interesting and relatable to the world around us,” Ms. Dunn said. “I hope I can help my students love science too!”

Having taught 5th grade science at Dover Middle School for one year, Ms. Dunn has specific goals here.

“My goals are to help my students think like a scientist and to make learning fun!” Ms. Dunn said.

The biggest challenge as a science teacher for Ms. Dunn is helping her students understand complex ideas.

“That’s also what makes it fun!” Ms. Dunn said.

Outside of school, Ms. Dunn enjoys relaxing at home.

“I love to spend time with my family and my dog, Rocky, and I also love to read!” Ms. Dunn said.
