Freshman Jovanna Centeno Gets to Be a Princess for a Day

One of Jovanna Centeno’s dreams finally came true in late February with her quinceanera. Her flowey, alluring peach dress caught everyone’s attention. She and her court had practiced for three good months.

”My biggest challenge was getting everyone to 15 practice because we all had different schedules,” Jovanna said.

The chamberlains felt relief when they finally got to perform the surprise and main dances.

“The biggest challenge was focusing and putting all our effort into the dances because a quinceanera is a once-in-a-lifetime situation for a young hispanic girl,” Orlando Salas, 7th, said.

For one special day, Jovanna got to feel like a princess.

“The ceremony is a beautiful experience and all the attention is on you,” Jovanna said. “My favorite moment was dancing with my court of honor.”
